The research activities of the Institute of Chemical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences
(PL) fall within three strategic research areas of the Polish and
European Framework Programs: Environment, New Materials and
Technologies, and Energy and Its Sources. The focus are as follows:
Environment: the efficiency of the biopurification of gases from VOCs,
adsorptive and membrane separation of gases and liquids, removal of VOCs
in integrated system, methanol synthesis from CO2 and H2;
New materials and Technologies, investigations focus on the preparation
of nanomaterials using the sol-gel method (including the modification
of their functional characteristics) and the production of materials
with well-defined characteristics via precipitation in a dynamic L-L
system; Energy and Its Sources: utilization of mine ventilation methane
for the production of energy in homogenous reverse-flow reactors, design
of new types of solar collectors.
